The Tiniest Exoskeleton

welcometothepleasuredome asked: How do you take your macro photographs? They're stunning!

Depends on which ones you’r talking about? I use a 60mm nikkor micro on a d700 body for standard backyard shoots. For high speed images, I used a device called a Time Machine camera controller (http://www.bmumford.com/photo/camctlr.html). This enables any photographer to time precision to capture the decisive moment.

For focal stacking, I use a stacking rail called a Stack Shot (http://www.cognisys-inc.com/stackshot/stackshot.php) and stacking software called Helicon. To gain greater magnification, I employ a pb6 bellows with a nikkor 50mm. I hope I helped a little :)

Here is some old film micrographs I took a while back.

rollmyiceinchlorophyll asked: Dude, your work is astounding. You are crazy talented behind the lens, keep it up, because I want to brag about knowing you when you are famous.

I think the same about your skills on paper! One day you will be far more famous than I, so we should still hang out if that happens.

This is a painting given to me and created by my older brother, Luke. The webs and entangled people are all made of hand spun yarn! He’s an alright brother. Recently won 1st place in an arts competitions sculpture division. Check out some of his other work! http://www.facebook.com/luke.boslem

Hey there, my dear followers!
I’m heading into the museum on Friday for another shoot. I’m curious as to what you you all would like to see under magnifications up to 160x. Click the “Want to Know More?” button to send in some suggestions.

Much love!
